OUR MISSION - COMMUNITY OF COURAGE

Illness and death are tragedies that strike families every day. When they strike a child, families are often left with a seemingly irreparable hole. Yet the support of friends and a strong community can help provide courage and hope to see them through the trial. The Friends of Jordan Run & Walk's goal is to create a community of courage to let families know they are not alone and to provide them with some limited financial relief. Each year, the Friends of Jordan Run & Walk will select a child and their family from the Portland, Oregon area to receive the emotional and financial benefits of the event. In 2013, we sponsored Jordan, a 9-month old who passed away from Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). In 2014, we sponsored Dalton, a 2-year old living with SCID. This year, in 2015, we sponsored Marshall, a 2-year old battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). 2015 was the final year of the event, as the event coordinator leaves for college in the following year. Over the three-year lifetime of the event, we have raised close to $13,500 for three deserving families and involved about 550 people in our mission. Thank you for your continued support.
